This bell is the Treble bell from St John the Baptist Church.

It was cast in 1802 and was found to be cracked in the crown.

The bell is dye penetrant tested on arrival to find the extent of the cracking. In this case the cracks were very small and did not extend over the shoulder.
Next the crack is removed by grinding the affected area.
After welding the bell is again dye penetrant checked to ensure all cracks have been removed and that the weld has been successful.
