This bell is from St Mary’s Church in Swineshead, Lincs. |

It is the treble of 8 bells and has a lip diameter of 30“. |

On arrival, the bell was dye penetrant tested to determine the extent of the cracking. In this case, the 3 cracks extended to the shoulder of the bell but did not reach the inscription band. |
|
The bell was then ground to remove all the cracked metal and dye penetrant tested again. This is to make sure that all the cracks have been followed and completely removed. |

After welding the bell was checked again and the moulding wires restored. |
|
The bell has now been sent back to Eayre and Smith who will complete the work required to get the bells ringing again. |
