All Saints Church, Pickhill, North Yorkshire: |
This bell came to us with cracks in the waist, probably as a result of someone hitting it. A dye penetrant test was carried out which revealed numerous tiny cracks. |

The slow work then began of trying to trace each tiny crack to its end. This resulted in quite a large hole! |

In these cases, the bell usually has to be welded twice due to the difficulty in finding all the cracks the first time. This was not the case with Pickhill, it was successfully welded and returned to its church by Whitechapel Bell Foundry to ring out again. |
